Release Notes
What's new in each version of Time for macOS
Version 1.5.0
[Latest]October 23, 2026
Meeting Notifications
- Get a native macOS notification when a meeting with a Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, or Webex link is about to start
- Click Join on the notification, or the notification itself, to open the meeting right away
- Choose when you're notified: at start time, or 1, 2, 5, or 10 minutes before
- Pick the sound: your Mac's alert sound, one of the built-in macOS sounds, or none
- All-day, declined, and dismissed events never trigger a notification
- Tip: set Time's notification style to Alerts in System Settings so the notification stays on screen until you join or close it
Notifications Settings
- A new Notifications page in Settings shows whether Time is allowed to send notifications and which style they use
- One click takes you to Time's notification settings in System Settings
Accurate Time Zone Abbreviations
- Abbreviations now use the names people write when scheduling, like CEST, BST, JST, IST, and AEST, instead of GMT+2 style offsets for most zones outside the US
- Zones without a commonly used abbreviation, such as Dubai or Singapore, show their UTC offset instead
- Choose abbreviation, UTC offset, or both, separately for the popover and the menu bar
Bug Fixes
- Settings now opens in front of the app you were using when opened from the popover, instead of behind it
- Onboarding has a cleaner, consistent layout: every step shares the same header and the Back and Continue buttons no longer move between steps
Version 1.4.1
September 18, 2026
Easier to Click Short Meetings in Day View
- Meetings shorter than 30 minutes are now drawn at a 30-minute height so they are easy to click and join
- Back-to-back short meetings sit side by side instead of overlapping, the same way macOS Calendar shows them
Checkout and Anonymous Usage Signals
- Buying a license now goes through menubartime.com before reaching the checkout, so the license is tied to the app that opened it
- The app sends a handful of anonymous lifecycle events (first launch, a daily active ping, trial expiry, license activation) with an anonymous device identifier, app version, and macOS version
- Nothing about how you use the app is sent: no names, emails, calendar contents, settings, or time zones. Details in the privacy policy at menubartime.com/privacy
Bug Fixes
- Fixed a case where quickly switching between menu bar items left an extra popover on screen that could not be dismissed, most visible on macOS 27
- Emoji can now be inserted into a time zone name with the emoji picker (Control-Command-Space); picking one no longer closes the popover
- Text in the rename and time entry fields no longer appears grayed out while editing on macOS 27
Version 1.4.0
July 8, 2026
Calendar Day View
- New vertical day-timeline view for your calendar, like the day column in macOS Calendar
- Events are placed by start time and sized by duration, so gaps and overlaps are visible at a glance
- Overlapping events sit side by side; all-day events get their own strip at the top
- A red "now" line shows the current time on today, with the view auto-scrolling to it on open
- Move between days with the prev/next arrows or jump back with the Today button
- Switch between List and Day view from the calendar header or in Preferences
Fixed UTC Offset Time Zones
- Add fixed-offset zones by searching "UTC", "UTC+1", "UTC-5:30", "GMT+2", and similar
- These zones stay put through daylight saving changes — ideal for coordinating around a fixed offset
- Typing "UTC 3" suggests both UTC+3 and UTC-3; an explicit sign is respected
- Correct display of half-hour and other sub-hour offsets in the menu bar
Separate Menu Bar and Popover Visibility
- Each time zone can now be shown in the menu bar, the popover, or both, independently
- Keep a long list of zones in the popover while showing only a few in the menu bar
- Toggle visibility from a zone's right-click menu or the Manage Time Zones list in Preferences
Quick Actions Menu
- A visible "⋯" menu now appears on hover for time zone and event rows
- Reach Rename, Show/Hide, Remove, Dismiss, and Restore without needing to right-click
More Precise Typed Times
- Typing an exact time into a zone (e.g. 9:58) is no longer rounded to the nearest 15 minutes
- Snapping to round minutes now applies only to the slider, so typed times stay exact
Version 1.3.2
March 12, 2026
Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue where the license key could disappear from settings after restarting the app
- Improved license reliability when the app is used offline
- Fixed "Trial Expired" incorrectly shown for some licensed users
Version 1.3.1
February 11, 2026
Click Away to Dismiss Editing
- Clicking anywhere outside a name or time text field now saves and dismisses the edit
- Matches standard macOS behavior: Enter saves, Escape cancels, click away saves
Scrollable Timezone List in Preferences
- The timezone list in preferences now scrolls properly when many timezones are added
- Previously, adding more than ~9 timezones made it impossible to manage them all
Version 1.3.0
January 29, 2026
Click-to-Set Time
- Click on any time in the timezone list to set a specific time
- Type a time (e.g., "8:00 AM", "14:30", "8 PM") and all other timezones will adjust accordingly
- Great for scheduling meetings across timezones - just set the meeting time in one timezone and see what time that is everywhere else
- Supports both 12-hour and 24-hour formats
- Type an empty string or use the Reset button to return to current time
Cleaner Timezone List UI
- Removed hover controls (toggle switch and remove button) for a cleaner interface
- Right-click any timezone to access "Show/Hide from Menu Bar" and "Remove" options
Hide Timezone from Menu Bar
- Right-click any timezone in the menu bar to quickly hide it
- Only appears when clicking on a timezone, not on clock or calendar icons
Version 1.2.0
January 16, 2026
Auto-Hide Current Time Zone
- New option in Menu Bar preferences: "Auto-hide current time zone"
- When enabled, time zones matching your current location are automatically hidden from the menu bar
- Perfect for frequent travelers - no need to manually toggle visibility when you arrive at a destination
Bug Fixes
- Fixed context menu positioning on smaller screens
- Fixed time not live updating in popover (seconds now tick properly)
- Fixed menu bar layout shifting when seconds are displayed

Date Picker for Time Scroller

- Useful for planning meetings across time zones on future dates or checking DST transitions
- Click on the date in the time scroller to open the calendar picker
Improved Date Display
- Time zones now show actual dates (e.g., "Jan 15") instead of "Today/Tomorrow" when viewing dates further from the present
- Added preference to always show dates instead of relative labels (Settings → Time Zone List)
- Date formatting now respects system locale preferences
Dismiss Calendar Events
- Right-click any calendar event to dismiss it from the menu bar
- Dismissed events move to a separate "Dismissed" section in the popover
- Easily restore dismissed events with right-click → Restore
- Dismissed events are automatically cleaned up when they fall out of your event window
Airport Code Search
- Search for time zones using 3-letter airport codes (e.g., JFK, LAX, LHR)
- Includes over 5,500 airports worldwide
- Airport results show the code, airport name, and location
Improved Search Experience
- Use arrow keys to navigate search results and Enter to select
- Search field now auto-focuses when opened
